Analiza danych została przeprowadzona z wykorzystaniem analizy tematycznej według Braun i Clarke. Natomiast doświadczenia niestabilności i trudności relacyjnych współwystępowały z dominacja strategii emocjonalnych i unikowych. Wyniki podkreślają znaczenie stabilnych relacji oraz wsparcia emocjonalnego w procesie rozwoju wychowanków pieczy zastępczej.
The aim of this study was to analyze coping strategies used by adult foster care alumni in dealing with emotional difficulties and to identify the relationship between foster care experiences and current emotional functioning. The study had a qualitative character and was conducted using the case study method. The research group consisted of five adults raised in different forms of foster care. The study employed a semi-structured interview and three psychometric tools: the CISS - Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations, the MSEI – Multidimensional Self-Esteem Inventory, and the NEO-FFI - NEO Five-Factor Inventory. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis according to Braun and Clarke. The results indicate that experiences related to foster care are significantly associated with emotional regulation and coping strategies used in adulthood. Participants raised in more stable environments more often presented task-oriented coping strategies and better emotional functioning. In contrast, experiences of instability and relational difficulties co-occurred with emotional and avoidance-oriented coping styles. The findings highlight the importance of stable relationships and emotional support in the developmental processes of foster care alumni.
