The main aim of the study was to examine the relationships between the severity of anxiety symptoms, emotional intelligence, and satisfaction with a romantic relationship. The theoretical part discussed the psychological understanding of anxiety, emotional intelligence, and the functioning of romantic relationships, with particular emphasis on relationship satisfaction. The study involved 109 participants who had been in a romantic relationship for at least one year. The STAI, DINEMO, and CSI-32 questionnaires were used to measure the analyzed variables. The relationships between the variables were analyzed, and it was also examined whether emotional intelligence served as a moderator between anxiety and relationship satisfaction. The results showed that a higher level of anxiety was associated with lower relationship satisfaction. A relationship between higher emotional intelligence and lower anxiety severity was also confirmed. However, no direct relationship was found between emotional intelligence and relationship satisfaction. Emotional intelligence also did not significantly increase the prediction of relationship satisfaction after accounting for anxiety, nor did it weaken the negative relationship between anxiety and relationship satisfaction. The results indicate that anxiety may play an important role in the functioning of romantic relationships and may reduce the level of relationship satisfaction.en
