Objawy ADHD a nasilenie objawów lękowych i depresyjnych
W pracy zastosowano następujące narzędzia badawcze: skalę ASRS służącą do oceny nasilenia objawów ADHD u osób dorosłych, Inwentarz Depresji Becka (BDI) oraz Inwentarz Stanu i Cechy Lęku STAIC. Wyniki badań mogą mieć znaczenie praktyczne w planowaniu działań diagnostycznych i terapeutycznych skierowanych do osób dorosłych prezentujących objawy ADHD.
The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the severity of ADHD symptoms and the level of anxiety and depressive symptoms in adults. The theoretical part discusses the issue of ADHD in adults, anxiety disorders, and depressive disorders, with particular emphasis on the coexistence of these conditions. The study also presents the characteristics of emotional functioning in adults with ADHD and the possibilities of psychological and psychotherapeutic support. The study was conducted using the diagnostic survey method with the use of a questionnaire technique. The following research tools were applied: the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Sociodemographic variables such as gender and age were also included in the analysis. The statistical analyses did not reveal significant relationships between the severity of ADHD symptoms and the level of depressive and anxiety symptoms. At the same time, significant differences related to gender and age were found. Women obtained higher scores for depressive and anxiety symptoms than men. Higher levels of emotional symptoms were also observed among older participants. The obtained results suggest that the emotional functioning of adults with ADHD symptoms may be primarily associated with selected sociodemographic factors such as gender and age. The findings may have practical implications for planning diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for adults presenting ADHD symptoms.
