Obesity is one of the most serious health challenges of contemporary societies, and its treatment requires consideration of both biological and psychological factors. This thesis focuses on the analysis of psychological mechanisms related to eating-related problems among individuals after bariatric surgery and participants of the Greysheet program. The theoretical part discusses issues related to obesity, bariatric surgery, food addiction, emotional eating, personality traits, and coping styles. It also presents the results of previous studies concerning eating-related problems and food addiction. The empirical part presents a study conducted using the case study method among individuals after bariatric surgery and participants of the Greysheet program. The study employed a clinical interview and psychological assessment tools designed to evaluate symptoms of food addiction, personality traits, and coping styles. The results indicate the presence of symptoms characteristic of food addiction in both groups. Difficulties in emotion regulation, increased vulnerability to stress, and similarities in selected personality traits were also observed. The findings highlight the importance of psychological factors in understanding eating-related problems and emphasize the need for further research on the mechanisms underlying these difficulties.en
