Trauma-Informed Care) w medycynie somatycznej.pl
The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the experience of early childhood trauma and the occurrence and severity of somatic diseases in adulthood, considering the moderating role of gender. The study was conducted online among a group of 100 young adults diagnosed with a somatic disease (purposive sampling). The research instruments included the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form (CTQ-SF) and a custom-designed health survey. The results confirmed a significant positive correlation between the overall severity of experienced trauma and the number of diagnosed somatic diseases, as well as the subjective perception of physical pain. Contrary to initial assumptions, women did not exhibit stronger somatization than men; gender did not differentiate the number of medical conditions or the level of pain. The analysis revealed that emotional abuse was the strongest and the only statistically significant predictor of an increased number of medical diagnoses. A relationship was also observed between the experience of neglect and the occurrence of respiratory diseases. The conclusions from the study indicate that adverse childhood experiences constitute a biological risk factor associated with physical health status in adulthood. The findings emphasize the necessity for a holistic approach to the patient and highlight the need to implement the Trauma-Informed Care model in somatic medicine.en
