Do pomiaru lęku wykorzystano Inwentarz Stanu i Cechy Lęku (STAI). Do określenia dysregulacji emocji zastosowano skróconą Skalę Trudności w Regulacji Emocji (DERS-8).
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults is an increasingly frequently diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorder. Its symptoms significantly affect an individual’s daily interpersonal functioning. The aim of this study was to present the issue of ADHD and to demonstrate the relationship between emotional dysregulation and anxiety levels in the adult ADHD population. The study was conducted using standardized assessment tools. Anxiety was measured using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Emotional dysregulation was assessed using the short version of the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS-8). The study was carried out on a sample of 93 individuals with a psychiatric diagnosis of ADHD. Statistical analysis showed that a higher level of emotional dysregulation was associated with a higher level of anxiety, both as a state and as a trait. This relationship was stronger for trait anxiety. The key findings indicate that in both women and men with ADHD, a higher level of emotional dysregulation was associated with a higher level of anxiety, both as a state and as a trait. However, this relationship was stronger among women. The presented results indicate a strong relationship between emotional dysregulation and the experienced level of anxiety in adults with ADHD. The obtained results suggest the need for further research in this area, as well as the inclusion of emotional dysregulation in the diagnostic and therapeutic process.en
