Pomimo rosnącej liczby badań nad mobilnością studencką, psychologiczne mechanizmy łączące doświadczenia mobilności z rozwojem osobistym i kompetencjami międzykulturowymi pozostają niewystarczająco zintegrowane teoretycznie i empirycznie. | pl |
| dc.description.abstract | International mobility in early adulthood constitutes a high-impact developmental context that can trigger substantial changes in self-regulation, perceived agency, and identity construction. Despite a growing body of research on student mobility, the underlying psychological mechanisms linking mobility experiences to personal development and intercultural competence remain insufficiently theorized and empirically integrated. This article addresses this gap by conceptualizing mobility (including the Erasmus+ programme and other forms of educational and professional mobility) as a “space for change,” within which developmental processes are activated through exposure to novelty, ambiguity, and sociocultural discontinuity. Drawing on theoretical perspectives on autonomy, tolerance of ambiguity, transformative learning, and identity development, the paper proposes a process-oriented framework for understanding change during mobility. The empirical section presents findings from a pilot survey study (N = 176), focusing on self-reported changes in agency, openness, and intercultural competence. The results indicate consistent increases across these domains, suggesting that mobility may function as a catalyst for the development of psychosocial resources. However, given the exploratory design and reliance on self-report measures, the findings should be interpreted with caution. Overall, the study contributes to the literature by offering an integrative conceptualization of mobility as a developmental context and by highlighting the need for more rigorous, longitudinal, and mechanism-focused research. | en_US |
