Abstract The aim of this thesis was to analyze the relationship between personality traits and the severity of compulsive buying. The study was based on the Big Five model, including neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Selected sociodemographic variables, such as gender, occupational status, financial situation, and relationship status, were also included. The study involved 128 participants. Personality traits were measured using the IPIP-NEO-FFI-50 questionnaire, while the severity of compulsive buying was assessed with the Richmond Compulsive Buying Scale (RCBS). The obtained results enabled a partial verification of the adopted research assumptions. No statistically significant relationships were found between the analyzed personality traits and the severity of compulsive buying. This result suggests that the phenomenon under study may be more complex and may not be directly associated with basic personality dimensions. Among the analyzed sociodemographic variables, gender was found to be significant, women obtained higher scores in compulsive buying than men. No significant differences were found with regard to occupational status, financial situation, or relationship status. The findings indicate that compulsive buying should be considered a multidimensional phenomenon resulting from the interaction of psychological, social, and consumer-related factors.en
