Nasilenie cech ADHD, poziom impulsywności a kompetencje emocjonalne u młodych dorosłych.
Zrealizowane badanie dostarcza cennych wskazówek, uwypuklając konieczność wnikliwej diagnozy różnicowej i potrzebę projektowania całościowego wsparcia terapeutycznego.
The aim of this master’s thesis was to empirically investigate the relationships between ADHD trait severity, impulsivity, and emotional competence in young adults. First, the theoretical frameworks of adult ADHD, impulsivity, and emotional intelligence were outlined. Utilizing a correlational design, the study examined 78 participants. According to the assumptions, the respondents were divided into an ADHD profile group, a group with other psychological conditions, and a control group. Data were collected using standardized self-report measures: the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS v1.1), the IVE Impulsiveness Questionnaire, and the INTE Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire. The findings revealed a moderate negative correlation between overall ADHD trait severity and emotional intelligence. The analysis demonstrated that diminished emotional competence was primarily driven by the inattention component rather than a tendency toward impulsive behaviors. Crucially, the lowest emotional intelligence scores were observed in participants reporting comorbid mood and anxiety disorders, rather than those with a pure ADHD profile. Impulsivity did not mediate the relationship within the analyzed model. These results suggest that emotional difficulties in this population stem largely from cognitive overload. The conducted study provides valuable insights, highlighting the critical need for thorough differential diagnosis and the development of holistic therapeutic support.
