The widespread availability of technology means that the phenomenon of problematic mobile phone use and the risk of device addiction are becoming noticeable even among preschool and early school-age children (4-7 years old). The main objective of this study is the construction and psychometric verification of a Children's Mobile Phone Addiction Scale (Tarkowski, Pietrusa, Kotara, 2026) that will allow for a reliable assessment of this phenomenon. Due to the cognitive limitations and age of the study group, the procedure was conducted using a Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) technique, in which the respondents were parents evaluating their children's behavior. A total of 547 responses were received, and 512 cases were included in the analysis (264 boys, 248 girls). The obtained results indicate that sociodemographic factors, such as education level, mother's age, and place of residence, are of the greatest significance in the context of children's addiction. Furthermore, a strong relationship was demonstrated between the child's daily screen time and the severity of addiction symptoms measured by the scale. An equally important indicator proved to be the child's negative emotional reaction to an attempt to take the device away. The collected data confirm that the developed tool is effective and emphasize the importance of early prevention within the family environment.
