This master's thesis is theoretical and empirical in nature. Its aim was to investigate the relationship between dog ownership and the level of stress and psychological well-being among young adults (18–35 years old) living in cities. The study involved a group of 111 individuals, using the diagnostic survey method (CAWI technique). The Sense of Stress Questionnaire (KPS), the WHO-5 Well-being Index, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and a self-developed questionnaire were applied. The analysis results showed a significant relationship between dog ownership and the reduction of emotional tension. The thesis also analyzed the role of social support and the correlations between stress and well-being, which allowed for the formulation of conclusions regarding the mental condition of young adults in an urban environment.
