The aim of my thesis is to analyze the relationship between computer gaming and the prevalence of burnout among students. It was important to investigate whether gaming modifies the subjective level of perceived stress and also influences the severity of academic burnout. My main research question concerns the nature of the relationship between gaming and its characteristics - such as frequency or game type, with a focus on RPGs, simulators, and logic games - and the level of academic burnout among students, as well as the role of stress in this relationship. The study included 110 students (62 men, 48 women) aged 18–50 (one participant aged 50+). To measure the variables, I used the KPS, Mini-COPE, OLBI-S and a self-designed questionnaire. The study demonstrated that academic burnout is present among the surveyed students, but at a low level. Women experienced higher levels of burnout than men. In general, students prefer adaptive forms of stress coping, and gaming within an appropriate time frame can support the coping process. The category of computer game is also significant. Games such as RPGs, simulations or logic games can be associated with lower levels of stress and academic burnout.
