Osobowość a postawy rodzicielskie
This master thesis is devoted to the analysis of the relationship between parents’ personality traits and the parenting attitudes they display. The study was conducted on a group of 100 parents (60 women and 40 men) aged between 27 and 48 years, using the NEO-FFI Personality Inventory and Mieczysław Plopa’s Parenting Attitudes Scale (SPR). The results of the statistical analyses confirmed the main and specific hypothesis, demonstrating that parental personality is a significant predictor of adopted parenting attitudes. Attitudes conducive to a child’s healthy development, such as acceptance and autonomy, were associated primarily with higher levels of Openness to experience and Conscientiousness. In contrast, less adaptive attitudes — inconsistency, excessive demands, and overprotectiveness — showed a strong relationship with high levels of Neuroticism. The thesis highlights the role of self-awareness in the parenting process and points to practical possibilities for applying the findings in the design of psychoeducational workshops and support programs for parents.
