Główne źródła satysfakcji wiązały się z życiem rodzinnym, życiem prywatnym i realizacją celów życiowych, a źródła stresu z relacjami z rodzicami, trudnymi kontaktami z uczniami i oczekiwaniami dyrektora.
This thesis is a theoretical and empirical study devoted to the relationship between coping styles and life satisfaction among primary school teachers. The study was conducted among 110 primary school teachers using the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS), the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and an author-designed questionnaire. The results showed a positive relationship between life satisfaction and task-oriented coping, and a negative relationship between life satisfaction and emotion-oriented coping. Contrary to the initial assumption, a positive relationship was also found between avoidance-oriented coping and life satisfaction. Additional analyses of the avoidance subscales revealed a positive relationship between life satisfaction and seeking social contacts, whereas no statistically significant relationship was found for engaging in substitute activities. Selected sociodemographic, occupational, and psychosocial factors partly differentiated the analysed variables. The main sources of life satisfaction were related to family life, private life, and the achievement of life goals, whereas the main sources of stress were associated with relationships with parents, difficult contacts with students, and the expectations of the school principal. The findings indicate that teachers’ life satisfaction is related both to individual coping styles and to the psychosocial conditions of their professional functioning.
