This master’s thesis examines how leaders of Polish networking groups understand business networking. The aim of the study is to analyse how people managing relational environments in Poland define, implement and assess the effectiveness of networking. The empirical research was conducted through individual in-depth interviews (IDI) with thirteen leaders and practitioners of Polish networking and referral groups. The collected material was examined using qualitative thematic analysis, including repeated reading of the interview material, open coding, thematic categorisation and comparison of respondents’ perspectives. The findings show that mature networking is based on three interdependent pillars: the participant’s intentional awareness, the quality of individual interactions and long-term relationship management. The respondents consistently distinguish networking from aggressive prospecting and short-term selling, emphasising trust, reciprocity, recommendations, authenticity and systematic follow-up. The thesis also identifies the most frequent networking pathologies, a catalogue of possible key performance indicators and practical recommendations for organisers and participants of networking groups. The conclusions indicate that networking may be understood as a managerial tool for developing social capital, supporting business growth, reputation building and inter-organisational cooperation.en
