Współczesne formy prokrastynacji a funkcjonowanie kobiet w średniej dorosłości
This thesis concerns the influence of contemporary forms of procrastination on the functioning of women in middle adulthood. Particular attention was paid to digital procrastination, which is associated with postponing duties in favor of using digital technologies, social media, and other forms of online activity. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between procrastination, self-control, professional, family and social functioning, and psychological well-being in women. The thesis consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part discusses the concept of procrastination, its psychological mechanisms, typologies, and contemporary forms, with particular emphasis on the digital environment. The specificity of women’s functioning in middle adulthood is also presented, including social, professional and family roles, as well as the importance of psychological well-being. The empirical part was based on a diagnostic survey method. The study used the General Procrastination Scale (GPS), the Self-Control Scale (SCS), the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), and an original questionnaire concerning digital procrastination. The study included 202 women in middle adulthood. The results indicate that digital procrastination is significantly related to the general tendency to postpone tasks, the level of self-control, and life satisfaction. Women with a higher level of digital procrastination obtained lower results in self-control and reported lower life satisfaction. The findings confirm that contemporary forms of procrastination may affect women’s functioning in various areas of life, especially in terms of time organization, effectiveness, psychological well-being, and the sense of control over everyday responsibilities.
