The aim of this study was to understand the subjective experience of cognitive functioning in individuals with a history of depression during remission. A qualitative research approach and multiple case study method were applied. The study included five participants and used semi-structured interviews as well as BDI-II, MADRS, and the Rumination Questionnaire. The results showed that cognitive difficulties, including problems with concentration, memory, and organization of thinking, persist during remission and are associated with rumination and emotional tension. These difficulties affect daily functioning, self-image, and the recovery process.
