The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between personality traits and coping styles in stressful situations among primary school teachers. This issue is important due to the high stress load in the teaching profession and its significance for professional functioning and psychological well-being. The study used a diagnostic survey method. The NEO-FFI Personality Questionnaire, the Coping in Stressful Situations Questionnaire (CISS), and an authors' questionnaire were used in the study. The study included 130 primary school teachers. Descriptive statistical methods and Pearson's linear correlation coefficient (r) were used in data analysis. The research results showed that in the studied group of teachers, the dominant coping style for stress is the task-oriented style. Statistically significant relationships were found between personality traits and coping styles. The strongest correlation was observed between neuroticism and the emotion-focused style. Additionally, a positive relationship was shown between conscientiousness and the task-oriented style, as well as partial connections of extraversion and openness to experience with stress coping styles. No significant relationship was found between agreeableness and seeking social contacts. The obtained results indicate the existence of significant relationships between personality traits and stress coping styles. The research results may provide a basis for taking actions to support teachers in coping with stress and developing more adaptive functioning styles in difficult situations.
