Studenci piątego roku częściej stosują styl zadaniowy, natomiast studenci pierwszego roku częściej wykorzystują style emocjonalne i unikowe. Wnioski wskazują na potrzebę wspierania studentów rozpoczynających studia.
The subject of the thesis is the relationship between the level of stress, anxiety and coping strategies among first-year and fifth-year psychology students. The aim of the thesis is to determine whether the stage of academic education differentiates the level of stress, the level of anxiety and preferred coping styles. The study includes 252 psychology students, including 126 first-year students and 126 fifth-year students. The research uses the author’s own questionnaire and standardized research tools: the Stress Perception Questionnaire (KPS), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and the Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations (CISS). The results are analysed using descriptive statistics, Student’s t-test, Cohen’s d coefficient and Pearson’s r correlation. The results indicate that first-year students obtain higher scores in stress and anxiety than fifth-year students. Fifth-year students more often use the task-oriented coping style, whereas first-year students more often use emotion-oriented and avoidance-oriented styles. The conclusions indicate the need to support students at the beginning of their studies, especially through preventive activities, stress management workshops and access to psychological assistance.
