The aim of the thesis was to examine whether parental status, understood as having or not having children, is associated with differences in presence of meaning in life, search for meaning in life, and global self-esteem among women aged 35-45. The study included 100 women living in the Silesian Voivodeship. The Meaning in Life Questionnaire MLQ-PL, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and an author-designed demographic questionnaire were used. Statistical analyses were conducted in JASP. The Mann-Whitney U test, two-way analysis of variance, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Spearman rank correlation were applied. Most hypotheses concerning parental status, its joint consideration with place of residence, and the age of the respondents were not confirmed. However, women who indicated therapeutic and helping forms of development as the most important in the last five years obtained higher scores in search for meaning than women who indicated training and developmental forms. A positive association between presence of meaning in life and global self-esteem was also found, whereas the association between search for meaning and global self-esteem was not confirmed. The results suggest that parental status alone does not explain the level of the analysed psychological variables. The way women interpret their experiences, goals, and life direction may be more relevant.
